2027 Porsche Macan Electric VS The Competition
)
The Macan Electric has added an exciting new dimension to the already outstanding Macan nameplate. Not only does the Macan Electric offer the same luxury and superb driving dynamics you’ve come to expect from the Macan, but without the trips to the gas station, it also offers even more horsepower and a quicker 0-60 time. That makes for quite an appealing vehicle, but it’s not the only option out there, electric luxury SUVs have become quite popular, and the Macan Electric has several competitors. So we put together a guide to show how they stack up.

We’re starting our comparisons with the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, which is very similar to the Macan Electric in terms of size. The Macan Electric has a horsepower advantage, and while it might not look like a huge difference, the half-second difference in 0-60 times tells us the Porsche is also making better use of its power than the EQE. The Macan Electric has a bigger battery capacity, but the real advantage is the more advanced battery technology that has made Porsche the leader in this field. The result is a much higher DC fast-charging rate, despite the battery being bigger.
The Macan Electric scores big in the practicality department as well, thanks to more cargo space and an above-average towing capacity for a compact model. Not that it’s especially difficult to beat the EQE in towing capacity, since it isn’t rated for it at all. While the EQE does have a price advantage over the Macan Electric, a major part of that difference is the fact that so much of the equipment available for the Mercedes is an extra-cost option. We’ve picked a couple of the higher-dollar options to highlight here, but even more basic features like a heated steering wheel, something that comes standard on plenty of vehicles that cost half as much as the EQE, will still cost you extra from Mercedes. And even once you’ve selected all of that optional equipment on the EQE, it still lags behind in performance, battery tech, and functionality.
Porsche Macan Electric VS Maserati Grecale Folgore

2027 Macan Turbo Electric

2024 Audi SQ8 Sportback e-tron Premium Plus

Horsepower: 542
0-60 Time: 4.0 seconds
DC Fast Charging Time (10%-80%): 29 minutes
Leather Upholstery: Optional
Remote Parking: Not Available
One of the great things about the Macan Electric is that there are a lot of different variants, allowing it to compete with both mainstream competitors as well as more purpose-built performance vehicles. One such performance vehicle is the Maserati Grecale Folgore, and like the Macan Electric, it’s an all-electric counterpart to an existing gasoline model. But unlike the Macan Electric, there is only one drivetrain available for the Grecale Folgore, and it’s a long way off from the Macan Turbo Electric. The Macan has significantly more horsepower, but even with that disparity, the difference in 0-60 times is still shocking. Almost a second difference in this price range of performance vehicles is extremely rare.
You don’t often see the higher-performance vehicle also offering superior practicality, but it’s made possible by the advanced technology in the Macan Electric. We once again see a faster DC fast-charging time for the Macan, despite the Grecale Folgore also being a very new model. The simple truth of this is that Porsche is the leader in battery technology, and competitors will always struggle. The fact that Maserati asks you to pay extra for leather upholstery isn’t the biggest factor here, but it needs to be pointed out that this kind of thing is both baffling and audacious in this price range. And one last tech advantage: for those who want it, the Macan Electric is available with automatic remote parking, a feature that isn’t offered on the Grecale Folgore.

2027 Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor With Performance Pack

Polestar now makes a limited range of all-electric vehicles, but the company started life as a racing team and Volvo tuner. And while some of the brand’s current vehicles are fairly pedestrian, there are variants where Polestar applies all of that performance expertise. One of these is the Polestar 3 Long Range Dual Motor With Performance Pack, and cumbersome name aside, this version of the 3 is clearly built for performance. In fact, it has slightly more horsepower than the Macan 4S Electric. But it seems that, once again, Porsche does a better job of using all of the power in its vehicles, and the Macan has a noticeably quicker 0-60 time and higher top speed.
The Macan has more range than the 3, and while it isn’t a very big margin, it’s still significant because the 3 has a bigger battery, 111 kWh versus 100 kWh in the Macan. Given the nearly identical power output, this disparity can only be explained by the difference in battery technology, where Porsche is once again a leader. This makes the difference in DC fast-charging times less of a surprise, but it’s still a pretty sizable difference. And lastly, the Macan again scores a win in practicality with a much, much higher towing capacity.

Winner — Porsche Macan Electric
The Macan Electric isn’t technically the only vehicle in its class, but it’s clear that the competition lags behind Porsche in several key areas. Performance is obviously the big standout, but charging, luxury, and style are all areas where Porsche also holds a commanding lead. Only Porsche could build an SUV as exciting as the Macan, and now the Macan Electric carries the idea even further. Let us help you find your Macan Electric today.
